Real Wood: Internal Display Information
4-Inch and 3.5-Inch Real Wood Insert Displays
All of our internal, real wood inserts are constructed from basswood plywood, responsibly sourced, and cut to a thickness of 6mm (.236 inches).
Basswood finishes very well and is a perfect contrast to the stain colors that are offered for our frames. Better yet, basswood is often considered a renewable/sustainable wood product by many sources, helping improve our sustainability.
After the basswood is laser engraved and/or laser cut with your custom order/design, the display options go through our finishing process. At the finishing department/process, the internal wood displays are once again inspected to ensure they meet our highest quality standards before receiving multiple applications of a top/finishing coat of satin lacquer. Between the coats of lacquer, our team members use very fine steel wool to sand/buff the internal wood displays for a smooth look and feel.
The satin finish looks and feels beautiful, adding a satin shine to interior wood surfaces in a crystal-clear finish that creates an ultra-hard, smooth finish on interior wood projects that offers a ton more protection for your custom frame.
